Course/Systems Descriptions: Anatomical Education Ph.D. Program

Total Program Credits: Required and elective courses total approximately 101.5-115.5 total credit hours over 3-4 years. Credits required vary depending on the time to completion and the courses chosen.

Required Courses: Approximately 86.5-100.5 credit hours over 3-4 years.

  • Required Anatomical Sciences: !7.5 credits
  • Required Teaching Practicums: 11-12 credits
  • Required Statistics: 6 credits
  • Required Research: Approximately 43-53 credits in research over 3-4 years. Students enroll in research or dissertation research each semester.
  • Required Graduate Seminar: Approximately 9-12 Credit hours. Students enroll in Graduate Seminar each semester it is offered.

Elective Courses: Minimum of 15 credit hours.

* Some course requirements may have been fulfilled by previous graduate course work or equivalent experiences.

Required Teaching Practicums (11-12 credit hours) 

Teaching Practicums are required in Medical Anatomy and one other anatomical science subject (choose from Histology or Embryology).

AND choose one of the following subjects

Transfer of Course Credits 

Up to six graduate course credit hours, taken above and beyond requirements for a Master’s in Anatomy, may be transferred. All transfers require approval from the Director of the Anatomical Education Ph.D. Program.
